My Favorite Summer Home Remedies

Since everyone, including Dr. Oz, loved my lemon juice and aspirin facial I wanted to give you two of my favorite Summer home remedies.

Smooth Feet Pedicure: Soak feet for 10 minutes in 1 can of tomato paste with 1 can of crushed tomatoes or spread 2 cans of tomato paste on feet and wrap feet in Saran wrap. Cover wrapped feet with socks for 10 minutes. Rinse with vinegar or water. Follow with olive oil and normal pedicure.

Tomatoes have alpha hydroxyl acids for exfoliating dead skin cells to make your feet smoother. They also contain two of the best free radical scavengers; vitamin C and the antioxidant Lycopenes. Put Vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray feet to reduce odor and athletes foot. Vinegar has acetic acid, which is anti-bacterial. Vinegar is a deodorizer and a skin softener. For callused feet put a cotton round soaked in one-quarter cup vinegar on each foot, then cover with plastic wrap and leave on overnight. Coat feet in olive oil, cover with plastic wrap, and socks overnight the next night. Better feet while you sleep!

Soothing Sunburns: Blend refrigerated cucumbers, plain yogurt, and mint in a blender. Apply to irritated and/or sunburned skin. Rinse off when the cream gets warm.

Cucumbers have astringent and hydrating properties. They have vitamin E, natural oils, and silica, which is a trace mineral for the skin. With the same pH as the skin, cucumbers help to restore the protective barrier of the skin. Cucumbers are mostlycooling for the sunburn. Yogurt is antifungal and antibacterial, but with the fat content whole-milk yogurt helps to rehydrate sunburned skin the best. Mint has Vitamin A. Mint oil is a good anti-pruritic ingredient to sooth itching skin and cool the skin. Take care of your sunburn and take care of your skin. Don't forget to re-apply sunscreen frequently.
